In Viewpoints the often over-looked viewpoints and landscapes of West County Cavan, Ireland are the ‘focus’ of this series. While these geographical areas remain unexplored by a majority of residents – there is a richness of geological history, which is counter-balanced by what appears to be vast emptiness.

In Viewpoints there was an attempt by the artist to reveal the hidden detail of this landscape and to provide a literal ‘double-take’ through the use of an older viewing technology – stereography. Stereoscopic viewing was a prolific parlour game of the Victorian era that was equivalent to watching a film or television. Through Viewpoints Sylvia aspired to added additional 'depth' to her subjects and reveal them beyond ordinary perception.
